Gas dynamics of laser cutting of thick metal sheets using the CO2-laser
3D numerical simulation of the compressible viscous gas flow applied to a gas-laser cutting of metal is performed. Numerical simulation is based on the splitting and fractional steps methods proposed by N.N. Yanenko. Technical recommendations for the flow control were formulated and applied to experiments at the automated technological complex while designing laser cutting technique of thick metal sections (up to 30...50 mm).
