Preparation of initial data for forest resource models based on remote sensing data

Models for forest dynamic allow estimating different scenarios of ecosystem change, which are necessary for making decisions on reforestation, planning for logging, forest protection and conservation measures. The initial data for such models usually comprises of the data on the distribution of trees of certain species and age in the study area. The paper proposes a methodology for processing data from open sources, which can be used to prepare initial data for forest resource models. Different sources of initial data for models are compared.
