GIS today: current state, perspectives, solutions
The current state and prospects for development of geoinformation systems based on their retrospective analysis are both considered. The analysis of the main components of the open source and commercial software systems is done; their advantages and disadvantages are examined. Based on the known solutions, the design for geoportals technology is considered and a new approach to implementation that extends the functional and computational capabilities of such systems is offered. Integration and examples of GIS software products which are connected with remote sensing systems are described. A new class of GIS that uses the elements of artificial intelligence is analyzed. The intelligent GIS (IGIS) which allow to progress to new levels of processing and analysis of geo-information, both in local and distributed versions, are considered. For the ever-growing volumes of information, it is encouraged to pay attention to the construction of the specific GIS technology that uses Big Data concept (BIG DATA) and its implementation to the so-called HADOOP clusters. To analyze the latest approaches, we present the examples of specific GIS and conclude on their relevance in establishing of such systems.
