Low dimensional model of convection in a rotating spherical layer of a viscous liquid
A low dimensional model of convection in Boussinesq approximation is constructed. Temperature and velocity fields are decomposed using eigenmodes of Laplas operator. Modes that can describe the large-scale convection structure in external Earth's core consistent with data of the core are selected. It is proved, that a stationary convection is impossible in the model.
